The Un-Study

Prompt: The song Kryptonite, by 3 Doors Down (lyrics here) by Rabia Gale.

Not what I was expecting, but you never know how one thing gets to another.

The Un-Study

Knowledge solid, fluid (is) / Unlearning ev'rything.

Lyric
Poem

One. Two. Three. Four. Five. Six.
Ice tank. Air bank. Blood rank.
Fire, water, soil—

I thought they called it earth?

Six lose five lose four and

End up with backwards three.
Knowledge solid, fluid (is)
Unlearning ev’rything.

Algebra and English,
Physics, fractions, grammar

Transformed by nonsense poems
And wisdom out of babes.

Backwards three gain two and

End up with backwards one.
Inside you make the heavens.

Know who you are: You’re done.

This was totally unexpected, but fun. 🙂

I agree on that! I didn't expect to write it because, oddly enough, even when I'm not concrete and obvious with poetry, I'm usually pretty clear and nowhere in the nonsense column. This one just started and rolled and then hit a lot of the ideas of unlearning and science being often wrong and the point of our learning in the first place. Rolled up in nonsense! But I had fun. Thanks for the prompt!
