So we were discussing, this challenge buddy of mine and me, and in our discussing “Glass Angel” and the prompts she’d already given me, this popped out.

Jordan Michael wasn't worth stopping the sonata.

Ashen has just ended a relationship. Her leader is concerned.

Late Return

Canon: Seven Days
Characters: Lena Johnson and Wesley Bryn
Pairings: Lena/Wesley

The book was late and he had never missed a week.

Lena isn’t sure what to do when her most regular borrower fails to appear on schedule. Her assistant is pretty sure it’s not the book she’s worried about.

365 Challenge: When the Clock Chimes

This entry is part 14 of 52 in the series 365 Challenge

When the Clock Chimes

Canon: Seven Days
Characters: Lena Johnson and Wesley Bryn
Pairings: Lena/Wesley
Prompt: Hmm, how about him going back when he still remembers her?
Rating:
Notes:

So I wasn’t expecting this experiment that he does so often to show up until after the next story (also prompted by pygmymuse), but it did. Hope you like it!

Forty-eight hours but it wasn't time to sleep.

It was Wednesday, the day after forgetting day, but Wesley wanted to remember and see if what he thought he saw was real.

Canon: Miscellaneous Fiction
Characters: Tiger and Anthony
Pairings:
Prompt: Setting: At the top of a tree

What are the stars?

Tiger is a watchcat charged with keeping Anthony safe, but she was the self-contented sort, certain that if she is chaperoning, a visit to the stars is not unacceptable.

365 Challenge: As the River Breathes

This entry is part 16 of 52 in the series 365 Challenge

As the River Breathes

Canon: Kingdoms and Thorn
Characters: Spirare
Pairings:
Prompt: Setting: On the river
Rating:
Notes:

Not so pretty and an odd secondary character in the world, but alas, so many of the former operatives are this messed up.

They'd taught her to kill. She would learn to heal.

A feud between kingdoms results in a dammed up river and only one half-crazed girl to save them.

365 Challenge: Time, Love, and Scars

This entry is part 17 of 52 in the series 365 Challenge

Two drabbles, a double-drabble, and a poem. Thanks for the prompts, y'all! Keep 'em coming.

Scarred

Canon: Alliance
Characters: Kade Broussard and Hayley Lamar
Pairings: Hayley/Kade
Prompt: not in love
Rating: T
Notes:

So I hadn’t meant for this to be so depressing and horrible, but um… There it is in black and white—the reason Hayley is the way she is.

She's not in love. Really.

Hayley isn’t the kind of woman to be in denial, but she’s never liked a problem she doesn’t know how to untangle.

Warning: Mentions abuse.

Poetry is Fire

Canon: Alliance
Characters: Shelley Huntington and Gideon Thompson
Pairings: Gideon/Shelley
Prompt: books
Rating:
Notes:

A double-drabble.

Arsonists aren't supposed to be into literature.

Shelley wants a book; so does the local troublemaker.

Ever in Love

Canon: Mirror
Characters: Ever and Jaydn
Pairings:
Prompt: what about love
Rating:
Notes:

I wanted a plethora of quick drabbles. This is one of the few pieces that didn’t look liked I crammed a short into a flash. It’s also the first finished prose snippet of the world. Yay.

Why did she have to look like she belonged there?

Ever’s friend comes down to his shop, perches on his desk, examines the space station parts he sells. He just wishes she came for him.

at my back I always hear

Poem
16 lines
bound by spheres of glass // as the songbirds sing // they growing ever younger

365 Challenge: Wake and Thrive

This entry is part 18 of 52 in the series 365 Challenge

Wake and Thrive

Canon: Kingdoms and Thorn
Characters: Everett "Storm" Kiernan Murray (Rett), Sierra "Whisper" Lewis, and Red Wolf
Pairings: Red Wolf/Whisper
Prompt: More with Red Wolf and Whisper, how they got together, why he has no memory...
Rating: T
Notes:

Thanks to pygmymuse for asking the questions that led to this piece. It took me forever to make it stand alone, but I hope it satisfies.

He began at the bottom, nameless and empty, with a gaping hole where his life ought to be.

Red Wolf remembers nothing of his past or history before he became a member of Storm’s team of operatives. His only reassurance in the face of an uncertain future is the promise he woke to receive.

365 Challenge: Keeping the Balance

This entry is part 19 of 52 in the series 365 Challenge

Keeping the Balance

Canon: Vardin
Characters: Serel Calaié and Bryn out of Calai
Pairings:
Prompt: Change
Rating: K+
Notes:

Writing can be like stone soup. You have a story simmering on the burner in a great pot and you throw in this and that and whatever you have in your pantry and wait until something comes together. This is another ‘something’ for the “Hunt the Mists” pot. Here’s to you, in_the_blue, for wanting more.

In Vardin, change is a balance.

Serel shows his son the balance between change and guarding against change.
